Hubbard Rose Constance. Who Wrote the Segunda parte of La hija del aire?. In: Revue belge de philologie et d'histoire , tome 54, fasc. Calderon, "Hija fui de Ananias". The Play and the Problem. Revived by ninteenth-century German scholars, La hija del aire, a comedia in two parts, later found favor with the the Generation of More recently A. When the two parts of the play were performed before the king and queen on the 13th and 16th of November, , respectively, Calderon was clearly listed as the author of each.
Yet, a comedia entitled La hija del ayre had already been published in Parte quarenta y dos de diferentes autores Zaragoza, , where it was attributed to Antonio Enriquez Gomez. The play contained in this Zaragoza volume is identical with the Segunda Parte presented on November 16, That the Segunda Parte of La hija del aire was originally attributed to Enriquez Gomez is neither a readily accessible nor widely known fact.
Many scholars would. The standard reference books which catalogue the various collected volumes published in the seventeenth century are not particularly illuminating. No trae los nombres de los autores". And surely it would not occur to a Calderonista to search for the title under the listing of Enriquez Gomez1 works.
